Drawing on both her father & mother’s knowledge, Graham & Anne-Maree, Ellen develops and manages truly unique riding experiences in the picturesque King Valley of North East Victoria. These include Farm Stays, Mustering experiences, Trail Rides, Droving Trips, Riding lessons, Pack Horse Trips & Picnic rides.

Ellen started her riding career before she could walk and continued her ever growing passion in working with young horses and as a successful competitor in a number of horse sports such as Campdrafting, Cutting, Stockmans Challenges, Team Penning & Reining.

Ellen has won numerous competitions around Australia including Cutting Shows & titles, Stockman’s Challenges, Youth Reining, Team Penning events & Campdrafts.

She also manages the family farm and says she “has the world’s best job being able to get up every day to do what she enjoys most!”

Ellen says: “We are excited to show the world our piece of paradise in North East Victoria! As my family is one of the only sub-alpine lease holders now, we are pleased we can open these riding & mustering experiences up to the public to embrace the traditions in the High Country on horseback”

All of the rides and experiences guided by Ellen are a true testament for Ellen’s love for horses, and the beautiful scenery to be explored in the King Valley region & on her family’s property.

The Forge’s were one of the original settlers on the King River and the family continues the tradition of farming on properties scattered throughout the North East including the magnificent King Valley, Rose River & Buffalo Valley. A traditional horse and cattle family, the Forge’s are actively involved in the Mountain Cattleman’s Association and Ellen uses her horses as the primary tool for working cattle every day.

With over 30 horses on the home block at any time, mustering on horseback over a weekend to check, tag or move  cattle is a regular occurrence. Checking, marking and mustering cattle throughout the sub-alpine areas of the North East is almost a daily occurrence and the Forge’s see great opportunity in using this as a point of difference for visitors to the region wishing to get back to nature, breathe the fresh mountain air and go on a riding experience like no other.

With such rich heritage and intimate knowledge of the valley, the Forge’s feel this is just another way they can share their passion and open the region up to visitors from all over the world.

Together with her family, Ellen carries on the tradition of bringing guests to this beautiful area giving them the opportunity to experience a real Australian Heritage Cattle Drive in one of the most beautiful areas of Australia.
